2013 ICRAR Scholarship in Radio Astronomy for Postgraduate Research in Australia
International Centre for Radio Astronomy Research (ICRAR) at Curtin University offers scholarship in Radio Astronomy for PhD level in Australia. One Scholarship is offered for a period of three years with a possibility of up to six-month extension. The scholarship consists of a stipend valued at $30,000 per annum plus a tuition fee waiver (for International student). The applicants will pursue research in the field of low-frequency sparse aperture arrays for radio astronomy and in particular, AKA-low. The application deadline is 28th January 2013.

Eligibility: Applicants should:
-Have completed four years of higher education studies at a high level of achievement;
-Masters or Bachelors degree in electrical/electronic engineering or closely allied field;
-Practical knowledge of/ interest in one or more areas of radio astronomy engineering, signal process, RF electronics, antennas and digital circuits;
-Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills in English language;
-A driver’s license will be advantageous.
Scholarship Open for International Students: International students can apply for this scholarship.
Scholarship Description: Western Australia will be the home of major parts of the SKA radio telescope, including SKA-low, a very large aperture array. International Centre for Radio Astronomy Research (ICRAR) at Curtin University has a major involvement in the project in collaboration with a number of international radio astronomy research institutes.Applications are encouraged form students with an excellent academic record, good theoretical, hands on engineering skills and with a high level of personal inititiative. While high quality applications will be considered in any area of radio astronomy engineering, preference may be give to applicants with an interest in the design or application of low-frequency sparse aperture arrays.
