Conference: The Global Uprisings of 2011 and the Anthropology of Direct Democracy, AAA Annual Meeting San Francisco, 14-18 November 2012‏

Session at the AAA Annual Meeting
San Francisco, November 14-18, 2012

The Global Uprisings of 2011 and the Anthropology of Direct Democracy

Critical theorists, including Slavoj Zizek (2011), Judith Butler (2011), and Michael Hardt and Toni Negri (2011), have framed the protest movements of 2011 as a response to a fundamental crisis of representative politics. The response—from Northern Africa, through Southern Europe to North America—has, in many cases, centered on a radicalization of democracy, especially an embrace of direct democracy. Our knowledge of these directly democratic experiments remains, however, inchoate. Little description and analysis is available on the specific forms of directly democratic practice enacted in settings as distinct as the Casbah in Tunis, Tahrir Square in Cairo, Syntagma Square in Athens, Puerto del sol in Madrid, Tel Aviv’s tent city, the Wisconsin statehouse as well as the hundreds of encampments associated with the Occupy Movement.

The need for ethnographic accounts of direct democracy is especially urgent because many movements have refused official representatives of their practices and because democracy has been extended beyond formal institutions into new spheres of life. By inviting initial ethnographic accounts of direct democracy, this panel hopes to contribute to the growing anthropology of democracy (Appadurai 2001, 2007; Brown 2006; Paley 2002, 2008; Shore 2000). The focus on direct democracy, which has been relatively neglected within anthropology, responds to David Nugent’s (2002, 2008) call for an unsettling of “normative democracy”—i.e. the dominance of a certain liberal variant of democracy—through a description of “alternative democracies," especially those unique conceptions of democracy emerging among subaltern movements, groups, and peoples that allow us to think outside dominant assumptions. Proposed papers can address any of the movements that emerged in the wake of the 2011 uprisings around the globe, including but not restricted to the Occupy Movements or other recent struggles that have adopted directly democratic forms and practices. Please feel to contact me with any questions.

Conference: Latin, National Identity and the Language Question in Central Europe, Innsbruck, 13-15 December 2012‏

In the late 18th and the first half of the 19th century in Central
Europe new language-based national identities came to dominate over
the old legally, territorially, and historically constructed
identities.

While national languages struggled to emancipate themselves and obtain
official status, the roles and functions of Latin (political, social,
communicational, ideological, cultural, and scientific) were changing
dramatically. Latin obtained a different significance for the varying
social, ethnic and generational segments of society, from being the
essential part of an individual identity to representing an obstacle
to "national development" (and survival), from guaranteeing justice
and harmony between different linguistic communities of a country to
hindering change, social and political justice.

The conference aims to explore the different attitudes towards Latin
and Latin's different functions, their chronology and synchronicity,
their manifestations in literary, political and journalistic texts and
the causes of their shifts. This includes such phenomena as the
Enlightenment, educational reforms, social change, the growth of
national identities and their mutual influence, political goals, the
development of vernacular scholarship etc.

The focus lies on Central Europe with historical Hungary (including
Slovakia and Croatia), Transylvania and the Polish-Lithuanian
Commonwealth at its centre, but contributions illustrating comparable
phenomena in other territories, or the origins of these phenomena in
earlier times are also welcome.

Paper proposals (title and abstract of 150-200 words) should be sent
to language.conference@neolatin.lbg.ac.at no later than 30 April 2012.
Contributions should preferably be in English and not exceed 30 minutes.

Travel and accommodation grants are available within the limits of the
conference budget.

Conference: Interdisciplinary Memory Studies Conference, Athens, 9-10 November 2012‏

The Interdisciplinary Memory Studies Conference

Memory, Peace and Security
9 Nov - 10 Nov 2012

To be held at the University of Indianapolis, in Athens, Greece

There used to be a difference between memory and history, and journalism happened to lie in between them. It seemed to translate memory into a pool of news validated as possible entries into the canvas of history. Today, new media challenge classic journalism and offer the chance to every citizen to publish snapshots of every day life as news. The accumulation of information open to any audiences in the form of articles that bridge personal memories is challenging the notion of history itself. However, the past continues to be departing from us: today more than ever news becomes old news in a matter of minutes, and memory is the most powerful ally of civic journalism - journalism for the public. What is more, memory's inherent selectivity means that for every narrative, representation, image, or sound evoking the past, there is another that has become silent--deliberately forgotten, carelessly omitted, or simply neglected. The tension between the loud past of official histo
ry and those forgotten pasts we strain to hear, as expressed via new media, is addressed in many disciplines. For those in the field of memory studies, the tension between memory as private, personal, and the spectacle of official history is especially poignant. This tension illuminates what has been selected for remembering and why, allows for alternative memories and understandings to emerge, and speaks to several disciplines on a particular note.

The interplay of memory, journalism, and new media raises a number of pressing questions that are increasingly important for future studies of memory, as well as human security and peace processes. Are we in the wake of history as once conceived? Is history becoming polyphonic due to the advent of the era of memory? How must our understanding of the present and future be, in relation to the past? How is every act of remembering and forgetting shaped today? Where is journalism located in the spectrum between memory and history? How are peace and security supported by a democratic representation of the history and memory of minorities?

We invite scholars from different disciplines to address one, or more, of the following questions, and gather in a common effort to exchange points of view and clarify the present state of the art in Memory Studies from a synergistic perspective:

*What is the role of new media in the creation of history today?
*How does journalism evolve today?
*Whose memories are silenced and suppressed (and by whom)?
*How do forms of remembering in new media work?
*How does memory relate to peace?
*What is the relationship of memory to "truth"?
*What emotions do feed memory?
*Is memory instrumental in the creation of a safe society?
*What happens when memories long silenced are "heard" again?
*Does journalism truly help to "hearing" the past?
*What kind of knowledge is journalism?
*What sources of "evidence" of the past are the most legitimate today? Why?
*What power does the visual have on us in relation to history?
*How many histories are there?
*What can the visual hide; what is unspoken?

Please send an abstract, with title, of no longer than 250 words and a short bio (200 words) including institutional affiliation, with "2012 ABSTRACT" in the subject line to Ms Romana Turina, Conference Coordinator, by March 30, 2012 (memojournal@yahoo.com<http://uk.mc297.mail.yahoo.com/mc/compose?to=memojournal@yahoo.com> or turinar@uindy.gr<http://uk.mc297.mail.yahoo.com/mc/compose?to=turinar@uindy.gr> ).

Decisions will be made by mid-April 2012.

Workshop: Bringing class back in: The dynamics of social change in (post) Yugoslavia

The Centre for Southeast European Studies, University of Graz, invites submissions for a two day workshop to be held in Graz on the 7-8th December 2012. The goal of the workshop is to collect contributions which flesh out the notion of social class in socialist Yugoslavia, during the state’s dissolution and in its contemporary successor states. We invite draft abstract submissions for eventual papers/chapters. An edited collection on this theme is foreseen for 2013.

Social class is understood in its broadest sense as a set of contested concepts centred on models of social stratification in which people are grouped according to social categories defined in terms of material wealth, occupation, genealogy etc… This workshop seeks to assess the validity of class concepts in the study of Yugoslavia and the state’s demise. Our starting point for this workshop is the paradox that although Yugoslavia was officially a classless society, class stratification was deeply ingrained in the social fabric of the state and has not been sufficiently tackled in the academic literature. Social divisions in Yugoslav and post-Yugoslav societies have primarily been conceived of in terms of nationalism and ethnicity, rural/urban cleavages, political orientation and notions of culture (kultura/nekultura).

We invite proposals from scholars of social sciences/interdisciplinary backgrounds. While the primary focus is on the latter years of Yugoslavia (1970s and 1980s), the state’s dissolution and the contemporary Yugoslav successor states, we are open to complimentary themes (e.g. on neighbouring states, other time-frame) and comparative approaches (comparing Yugoslavia with other countries or comparing components of former Yugoslavia with each other) providing it fits into the workshop’s aim which is to assess the utility of concepts of class in the Yugoslav and post Yugoslav contexts.

All proposals should consider the particular empirical, methodological and/or theoretical contributions that a focus on social class can bring to the study of Yugoslavia and its dissolution.

Some other questions and themes to be addressed at the workshop include (but are not limited to):

· Is there an autochthonous Yugoslav understanding of class? Can a model based on Western European societies (upper, middle, lower classes) be productive in (post) Yugoslav contexts? What does class mean in a “classless” society?

· How does the officially sanctioned understanding of class diverge from lived experience, self-perceptions, in the realm of the everyday?

· How can one differentiate notions of class from concepts like culture (kultura/nekultura), social capital, cosmopolitanism, in the Yugoslav context? Is class/social stratification conceptually useful?

· How can one account for the dynamism of class relations overtime – transformation and/or continuity? (In particular, the creation of new social categories during the growth of consumerism in the 1980s and the nascent free market and economic collapse/sanctions of the 1990s?)

· Class and everyday life – how did the experience of Yugoslavia differ according to social stratification? Was there a Yugoslav “underclass”?

· Does class bear any relation to processes such as state dissolution, war, and democratisation? How do such processes impact upon class?

· Class and ethnicity – ethnicised social stratification?

· (How) do notions of rural/urban differentiation translate to class?

· Class and migration – how have class differences influenced migration patterns such as the gastarbajter phenomenon?

Conference: on Rural Sociology and Cooperatives, Sofia, 5 June 2012‏

Dear colleagues, the regular annual Conference on the problems of the
village will take place on 5 June 2012 in Sofia, Bulgaria. In connection
with the UN sponsored International year of the cooperatives we adopted
the following topic: “Cooperatives in the Bulgarian Village-- virtuous
past and gloomy present day”.
We would like at the outset to say that we do not mean only agricultural
cooperatives – we include , though and they come in the phere all types of
cooperatives and cooperation in Bulgarian village. It is known that the
first cooperative in Bulgaria was established in the village of Mirkovo,
Pirdop region. Within more than 120 years the cooperation in the Bulgarian
rural area have had their times of highs and lows and periods of decline.

Now we just ask ourselves are such institutions in the Bulgarian village
still to be found. It is well known that cooperatives are in progress and
interest to them is highest during the economic crisis. In the conditions
of crisis in Bulgaria now there is no longer visible activity of the
cooperative movement. Or perhaps there are not enough good observations,
which make this process visible? Or, it may be safer to think rather that
changes the nature of the cooperatives has occurred? What happens with
cooperatives and their property, are there any kinds of cooperatives in
the villages as the Central Cooperatives’ Union continues to exist, and
what is their contribution to the economy and society – these are part of
the issues on which it is worth to think about and discuss....
The reports may have retrospective bias and to consider the past
experience, specific cases and even on the celebrities of the cooperative
movement. There might be place for reflection as well as on such aspect of
the topic:-rural mutual assistance of patriarchal times until today, the
forms of simple cooperative, which has been claimed that have been
existing until recently. And, possibly, some new forms of social economy
has replaced during the current situations of crisis older proven
cooperatives, that have appeared in Western Europe in the first half of
the 19th century.

We hope that this year, once again, we will conduct fruitful discussions.

We expect your applications for participation until 23 April 2012 in the
Institute for the Study of Societies and Knowledge (IIOZ), Section “Social
Communities and Identities” and the e-mail address: galyak@gmail.com (Ass.
Prof. Dr. Galina Koleva).

Master: Interdisciplinary Joint Master's Programme in South-Eastern European Studies, University of Graz [DL: 31 March 2012]‏

The University of Graz is pleased to announce the call for applications for the Interdisciplinary Joint Master’s Programme in South-Eastern European Studies.
This two year MA programme is conducted as a joint degree between four partner universities (Graz, Belgrade, Skopje and Zagreb) and commences in Graz in October 2012.

Students enroll in and spend the first year at Karl-Franzens University of Graz. In the second year, students spend at least one semester on mobility at a partner university. Partner universities include Belgrade, Skopje, Zagreb, Bologna, Ljubljana, Novi Sad, Poitiers, Sarajevo and South East European University, Tetovo.

Why Southeast European Studies in Graz?
South-Eastern Europe has been a focus of the University of Graz for over a century. The noble prize winner Ivo Andrić wrote his PhD in Graz and many scholars and prominent intellectuals from the region have studied here. Since the early 1990s thousands of students from across the Balkans have decided to study at the University of Graz and it is today normal to hear Bosnian/Serbian/Croatian, and Albanian in addition to German and English in the hallways of the university. Only two hours from Ljubljana and Zagreb by car, the city is close to South-Eastern Europe and the dense ties to the region are tangible throughout the city, from the cultural life to the social scene.

Over the past decades, the University has had a strong academic interest in the history of South-Eastern Europe, in particular historical anthropology. Various exchange programs, teaching, research and public events on the region have a long tradition. The Centre for Southeast European Studies is not only coordinating the Master’s Programme, but also hosts regular public events, workshops, conferences and conducts research on South-Eastern Europe. There are two other degree programs focused on South-Eastern Europe, an MA programme in the History of South-Eastern Europe and an LLM in South-East European Law and European Integration. Students are thus not just offered an MA programme in South-Eastern Europe, but are part of a vibrant community of scholars and students interested in and from South-Eastern Europe.

Content of the Programme
The Interdisciplinary Joint Master in South-Eastern European Studies is an international and interdisciplinary programme in social sciences and humanities of the highest quality which enables participants to effectively understand the interrelationship between law, politics, economics and culture with an emphasis on South-Eastern Europe. The programme prepares students for doctoral studies and professional life in a variety of other fields including work in international, local governmental and non-governmental organisations, journalism, business, scientific research, and consultancy.

In the first year at the University of Graz, students take core courses which include an introduction to multidisciplinary approaches in the study of South-East Europe, public law, political science, history, economics and cultural studies. In the summer after the first year a joint summer school is held for all students from the participating universities to complete the compulsory core modules. In the second year, students attend one of the partner universities and specialise in their desired field. There are also optional provisions in place to offer students professional trainings and internship positions.

In the final semester students write a master thesis reflecting their capacity to work on a scientific subject independently.

All compulsory subjects are conducted in English though students are able to take classes in other languages. Language acquisition is an important key aspect of the joint degree and students are expected to learn a regional language and/or the predominant language of their mobility institution.

Faculty
Most of the compulsory courses in Graz are thought by the staff of the Centre for Southeast European Studies – Florian Bieber, Joseph Marko, Armina Galijaš and Rory Archer. Other faculty members offering classes on South-eastern Europe and/or contributing to classes in the framework of the MA Programme are Karl Kaser (History), Harald Heppner (History), Renate Hansen-Kokoruš (Slavic Studies), Branko Tošević (Linguistics), Wolfgang Benedek (International Law) and Hubert Isak (European Law).
For further details on lecturers and the courses they teach see: http://www.seestudies.eu/node/35

Academic Degree
Students completing the Interdisciplinary Joint Master’s Programme in South-Eastern European Studies earn the degree “Master of Arts”, abbreviated MA. The joint degree is awarded by all four partners (pending accreditation at some partners).

Admission
The Interdisciplinary Joint Master’s Programme in South-Eastern European Studies welcomes applicants who hold an academic degree of at least 180 ECTS credits (bachelor’s degree or equivalent) who can demonstrate their basic knowledge of social sciences or humanities -- law, political, social, cultural or economic sciences -- and who have some general insight and interest in South-Eastern Europe.

The full application should consist of:

Conference: Health in Transition: Ethnographies of Bio-Medicine in Post-Socialist Europe, Bucharest, 7-8 June 2012‏

HEALTH IN TRANSITION:
ETHNOGRAPHIES OF BIO-MEDICINE IN POST-SOCIALIST EUROPE Call for Papers
7-8 June 2012
Kindly hosted by: Romanian Academy of Sciences, Bucharest, Romania With notable exceptions, the topics of health and medicine in post-socialist Europe have received limited anthropological attention compared to research on both the global "North" and "South". Implicitly, medical anthropological research from academic institutions in Central and Eastern Europe is little known by scholars from other parts of the world.

The goal of this Conference is therefore twofold. First, it brings together medical anthropologists and social science healthcare researchers with an interest in the changes affecting health and medical care in post-socialist countries. The Conference will therefore explore the challenges that medical systems in the region have faced during the last two decades of market economy and social upheaval.

Secondly, the Conference aspires to provide a forum for debates over the place of anthropology amongst other social sciences in the region. It will emphasize the need for enhanced awareness and acknowledgment of medical anthropology while highlighting its potential for applied, critical and engaged research.

The Conference builds on the Health in transition: (Bio)Medicine as culture in post-socialist Europe Conference held at the Charles University, Prague, Czech Republic, on 10-11 June 2011. An annual series of events on the topic of Health in transition is thus to be inaugurated.

With a focus on Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe as well as the former Soviet Union, organizers welcome contributions based on ethnographic research, including, but not limited to:

- contemporary forms of biomedical care, ethics and governance;
- impact of Europeanization and globalization on local health practices
- new patterns of medical approaches to disease;
- intersections of health with gender, ethnicity and other markers of social
difference
- personhood, the body and bio-politics;
- development of health-related professions;
- health and healthcare among migrant and refugee populations;
- poverty and unequal access to health;
- state ownership and privatization of health care
- uses of ethnography in health policy and practice
- medical anthropology and the question of post-socialism
The deadline for abstracts (300 to 400 words) is 20 February 2012. Complete papers are due by 7 May 2012. Work in progress is welcome and offers to chair or discuss panels will be warmly received. Please send abstracts and further enquiries to health.in.transition@gmail.com.

Conference fee: 10 Euros for presenters and participants, to be paid during on-site registration

Organizing committee: Heidi Bludau (Indiana University), Jennifer Carroll (University of Washington), Michael Rasell (University of Lincoln), Sabina Stan (Dublin City University), Edit Szenassy (Charles University), Valentin-Veron Toma (Fr. I. Rainer Institute of Anthropology, Romanian Academy).

Conference: The Second Euroacademia Global Conference - Europe Inside-Out: Europe and Europeaness Exposed to Plural Observers, Paris, 26 – 28 April 2012‏

Euroacademia The Second Euroacademia Global Conference - Europe Inside-Out: Europe and Europeaness Exposed to Plural Observers
Paris, 26 – 28 of April 2012

DEADLINES:
For Panel Proposals: 25 February 2012
For Paper Proposals: 15 March 2012

Description and aims

Europe became in the 20th century an elaborated yet contested notion as the particular field of European studies emerged and extensive and diverse research was directed recently towards an intensified search for what Europe is about. The creation of the European Union made things even more specialized and increased the stake of methodological rigor as more and more Europeans are affected by the decisions taken in Brussels . The number, diversity and quality of research projects focused on European issues is unprecedented, yet, as it is usually the case with specialization it gradually led to discursive communities that rarely meet and debate their approaches in open floors together with peers from other continents, academic traditions and cultures. It is the aim of this conference to build a bridge among specialists from different regions, academic traditions and cultures that share a common interest in studying and addressing Europe as a reflexive concern.

The Second Global Conference ‘Europe Inside-Out: Europe and Europeaness Exposed to Plural Observers’ aims exactly to refresh a broader approach and understanding of Europe by enlarging the platform of regular conferences and workshops for a wider arena of participants and disciplinary backgrounds in order to put on stage a worldwide monadology for such concerns. The conference aims to enable critical alternatives to the disciplinary orthodoxy by creating a framework for interaction and dissemination of diversity that has to become once more a European trademark. The conference also aims to become a constructive confrontational space for alternative methodologies, provocative puzzles, inter, multi and trans-disciplinary understandings of wider and also for thinner specialized issues of concern for or about Europe of today. In a way, such a conference aims to become a moment of return to the European specificity of critical self-understanding through dialogue and debate with all the discursive or narrative traditions that directly or indirectly constitute its self.

What is Europe and its place in the world? Is there something particular that sedimented in time and through a controversial history a European way? How does Europe see itself and how do others see it? Is Europe inclusive or club-based exclusive? Is Europe becoming a normative power or just envisages itself as one? Is the European multiculturalism a fact or an ideal? Is the European Union a reflection of Europe or an appropriation of it? These are just few questions out of an enormous space for inquiry that are to be addressed and confronted within the topic of the conference.

The conference is organized yet by no means restricted to the following orientative panels:

Europe as a would be world power
Europe and its internal and external others/outsiders
Europe and identities
Fortress Europe ?
EU and appropriations of Europe
Europe and the Mediterranean assortment
Europe and the inclusive/exclusive nexus
Europe and the US
Europe and anti-Americanism
Europe as seen from its Eastern neighbours
Europe as viewed from far away: narratives of the Europeans outside
Europe as viewed from Asia
Europe and Africa
Non-familiar faces of Europe
Knowing Europe in a different way: from Latin America to Australia
Europe and the EU as a normative power
EU regulatory practices in context
The multiple faces of Europeanization as a process
Europe and the persistence of the East-West Slope
Europe and crises
Europe and cosmopolitanism
Europe and the post-national orders
Europe in the world
European narratives of the past: the mnemonic/amnesic nexuses
Europeanization versus globalization
Europe and conflict resolution
European social models: welfare states and neoliberal suspicions
Europe and innovation
The politicization of Europe

However, if you are willing to propose and/or chair a particular panel we welcome you to do so.

Participant’s Profile
The conference is addressed to academics, researchers and professionals with a particular interest in Europe from all parts of the world. Post-graduate students, doctoral candidates and young researchers are welcome to submit an abstract. Representatives of INGOs, NGOs, Think Tanks and activists willing to present their work with impact on or influenced by specific understandings of Europe are welcomed as well to submit the abstract of their contribution. List of Scholarships Available for International Students to Study in UK

Thousands of students from Indian and all across the world every year dream of studying overseas in hopes to make their future better. However, many dreams can stay unfulfilled as cost of staying and studying in some other country could be too much for some to pay.

That’s where scholarship programs come in and these programs can be really useful for international students desirous of studying in some other country. Though, there are several countries that try to attract students’ attention, the US and UK , somehow manage to be on students mind while choosing a country for studying.
However, studying in UK can be a better option as compared to the US and Canada, for reasons like: as compared to US and Canada, studying in UK can be bit cheaper as tuition fees for certain courses is quite low. In addition, courses in UK are shorter as compared to US and other countries. In UK you’d be studying in bachelors program for 3 years as compared to 4-5 years in the US. By opting to study in UK, you would actually be saving your money.
Also, UK offers many scholarship programs to make it easier for deserving students to continue their studies there.

Below we’ve mentioned some names of the scholarship programs UK offers to its international student community:

1.     Gates Cambridge Scholarship: is a full expense covering scholarship for international students, who want to purse graduate study or research at Cambridge University, UK.  To know more about the program and if you are eligible please visit university website. Gates Cambridge scholarship candidates can apply to study any subject that’s available at Cambridge University; should be well-prepared for courses at the University also should meet all the conditions for admission; must be able to show evidence of high academic achievement, social commitment and that s/he will be good fit at University etc.

2.     Rhodes Scholarship: covers tuition and living expenses for two years of study at prestigious Oxford University.  This is the oldest and one of the most prestigious international graduate scholarship programs in the world. Applications for the year of 2012 have been closed but if you want to study in UK then you can apply for this scholarship for the year of 2013 and for this applications will be available in mid-2012.

3.      Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP): Students, who are citizen of Commonwealth countries (not to be mistaken with Commonwealth of Independent States) or of a British dependent territory are eligible for this program. Also, you must be below 25, permanent citizen of your country and have university degree. Grants are offered for one to three years and cover expense such as tuition, travel, living expense and sometimes grants are provided for books and clothes as well.

4.       Department for International Development: You must be from developing Commonwealth country and the course you want to study must be unavailable in your home country. Grants are usually give for taught courses at postgraduate level and you must be under 35, not employed by government or by any international organization and should be fluent in English.

5.      Royal Society Fellowships: is for post-doctoral scientists from a North America and Asia to undertake research in the UK labs. The fellowship is available for up to two years for postdoctoral researchers coming from US and Canada and for one year if you are from Asia. Browse around the link above to know more about the program.

6.      Marshall Scholarship: program is specifically for US students and awards up to 40 outstanding college graduate American students with chance to study at the UK institute of their choice for two years.

How to Get Scholarship:

1.      Most important tip, start your search for a scholarship early. Prepare a winning application, spend some time on it. If you are serious about studying abroad, start your search a year in advance.

2.      Follow the process of applying seriously and studiously. Don’t mess up anything; provide all the necessary documents like admission details, financial documents, visa details, official grades, reference letters, personal essays, etc.

3.      Also, apply for more than one scholarship program as there’s no guarantee that you’ll win the first one. And don’t overlook low amount scholarships as getting a full scholarship is quite hard to get and is rare. So also focus on 4-5 smaller scholarships as they are easier to get and can actually cover good portion of expenses.

Lastly, beware of scholarship scams as international students are their primary victims. Keep these things in mind: if they are asking for money from you for scholarship; charging application fees (legitimate scholarship foundations don’t charge such fees.); if you are suspicious of an offer etc. Bottom line, be careful.
Good Luck!
