Summer School: Geopolitics of the Black Sea, Izmir, 7-13 September 2012‏


Gediz University, İzmir Political Science and Public Administration Department and International Relations Department is organizing a summer university titled “Geopolitics of the Black Sea” between 7th and 13th September 2012 in İzmir in collaboration with Centre international de formation européenne, France (CIFE). Main aim of the summer university is to bring together an international group of students with experts on the Black Sea politics and economics both from Turkey and Europe.

Topics that will be covered are: 1) the geographic aspects: the axis of the 3 seas, 2) the role of the Black Sea in relation with Mediterranean sea and Caspian seas, 3) economic aspects: cooperation & competition, commercial agreements, 4) the role of Turkey in the geopolitics of the Black Sea Region, 5) the European Neighbourhood Policy in the Black sea Region and frozen conflicts. Students successfully passing an exam will have the possibility to acquire (4) ECTS academic credits.
